OUGD501 - Studio Brief 02: Development: Developments to chosen prototype Part 1

You must show at least 3 iterative stages to the visual development of your prototype. Each stage should bet accompanied by a brief evaluation which leads logically to the next development. Developments should be address: colour, layout, image choices, type choices, materials, scale, etc. all of which should be justified in relation to the brief / client / audience.

Referring back to the feedback of the three ideas. The  idea with the most positive amount of feedback for the problem was idea 1. This was an app that restrains the amount of online advertisements on social media platforms. There I am further commencing with this idea for the solution of the problem which has be stated.

Names of the app could be called:

  • Advapp
  • Ad&app
  • Apptise
  • Ctrl Ad

Below are further development stages of the wireframe, the colour, type choice, logo and layout of the app.

Here are some vectors of what the app will include:

Next are some colour mock ups of the sign in page, finding out an appropriate colour scheme for the app:

The suitable typeface for the app:

Logo colour app design:

Feedback
  • Majority if my peers agreed that the light green to blue colour background of the app background display looks suitable for the app.
  • The most popular name for the app was between Ad&app and Apptise.
  • The various typefaces for the app most of my peers said that the ones I have chosen look very similar to each other. But all are good, as long as the typeface is easy to read and clear it should be fine for the app.
  • The colour scheme for the logo design. My peers liked the 5/15 of them these are the second top on the left, the second row at the end at the right hand side, and the third row the three bottom designs (left to right).

OUGD501 - Studio Brief 02: Prototype solutions: 3x graphic prototypes Part 3

3x proposed solutions derived from idea generation stage. Visualisations can be fairly rough at this stage by they must be accompanied by an explanation/justification in reference to the original problem/brief. At this stage it will be necessary to seek feedback on your proposed ideas from peers and tutors. Feedback will help to direct your developments.

Proposed solution 3
A new design for smartphone users to have an advertisement locator app. When the individual uses the device whatever brand they walk pass for example: shop, fast food etc. A pop up advert will appear on the screen either offering special offers, sales, discounts, newest products etc. The design of the app will look like an app on the phones display screen. When the app is opened it will look similar to the location/compass map. There will be a slide bar for further settings such as time, duration, options for on and off. A wireframe will be displayed to help assist how the app will work for the individual.

Below are some inspired designs of other existing apps and rough sketches:

 Feedback
  • The majority of my peers agreed that the idea is good. However, the advert locator might become irritating to the users who have this function.
  • Some of the advertisement locator may located adverts which the consumer may not be interested in.
  • I believe this idea is not a very good idea. This app is not controlling pop up adverts but bringing them further in by going back every well known brand - may lose costumers this way.
  • Might be a good idea if there was a settings option of selecting which brand adverts they would like see when walking pass or in it? Less irritating and more rational.
  • The semiotics of the app is nice, like the pin on the map, the point with the detector on the bottom.
  • Will this app have like an account setting or will it connect to the phone cookie data to record or collect the adverts?
