OUGD501 - Studio Brief 02: Prototype solutions: 3x graphic prototypes Part 2

3x proposed solutions derived from idea generation stage. Visualisations can be fairly rough at this stage by they must be accompanied by an explanation/justification in reference to the original problem/brief. At this stage it will be necessary to seek feedback on your proposed ideas from peers and tutors. Feedback will help to direct your developments.

Proposed solution 2
A new setting option within smartphones for shopping brand apps (Topshop, ASOS, Urban outfitters, Levis, Jack Willis, etc.) will appear on a phone as an advert notification. Within this new settings the user of the phone can select which brand they would like to appear on the screen, the time the advert pop ups or not and the importance of it (e.g. best offers, limited additions, sale.) By using the iPhone setting as an inspiration/layout the design of the advert setting the rough sketches will assist on what it will look like. Similar to the first proposed solution 1, a wireframe will be displayed to help understand how the setting option will function.

Below are some inspired designs of other existing apps and rough sketches:

Feedback
  • Great idea of app! Would assist online shoppers to notify them on best offers, limited additions, sales, etc.
  • Instead of the advert notification being in the settings option of the iPhone or any smartphone device. It might be better for it to be in its own app?
  • Agreed with the feedback above might be confusing as their are many notifications that the smartphone will alert, plus there are too many of them in the original settings. Create an account on this if it is an app format.
  • A search bar maybe helpful for the users to find their favourite brand which will pop up an advert notification.
  • Would this advert notification include short adverts videos similar to YouTube? Might be useful as there will be no need for adverts to be on YouTube videos.
  • Controlling fashion advertisement a clever way of restraining them.
  • Make sure that the digital design would be vivid and eye catching like existing brands.
  • It's a good idea, however this advert does not stop other adverts like products and so on.

Proposed solution 1 or Idea 1
A downloadable app that assist mobile/internet consumers to restrain the various amount of adverts on social media platforms, websites etc. The production of this scale of work will be within an interface screen (smartphone, laptop, pad etc.) The visual appearance of the app will look like other app display. When the app is open it there will be options for the users to select which adverts they would like to appear on their devices. The option bar will include products that the individual would have an interest in. This will included by a refined option by brands, electronics, house wear etc. The app will also have an choice if the user would like to link the app to their social media platforms. This will allow them to control which adverts appear or they can be turned off and on. There is even a time setting or an alarm notification. The design of this particular app is inspired by the iPhone assistive touch this includes the functions. There will be a wireframe to demonstrate how the app functions for an individual.

Feedback
  • Majority of my peer preferred the two app logo which are the world with a mouse key and the computer, iPad and phone semiotics.
  • Lots of peers like the function of the app being similar to the
  • Make sure to add a search bar just incase the users cannot find what they are looking for.
  • More options would be good in the settings like notification times, alerts, volume etc.
  • Helpful for an account so its easier for the users to link all their personal social media platforms.
  • Make sure to show a login/sign up page for the users.
  • Maybe make it to an actual app page? With the scale of the assistive touch layout might be to small for other users with eye sight problems?
  • Make sure there are back buttons to take the user back to the main menu.
  • Make sure there is a settings options like if the user forgot their password or username.
  • Would be better to see a digital version, the font should be clear and easy to read such as Helvetica, Futura, Arial etc.
